Columbia River Wineries
The vast gorge cut by the Columbia River on its way to the Pacific Ocean has proved to be an ideal area for vineyards and is, in fact, home to 772 acres of wine grapes and over 20 wineries. The arid climate of the eastern part of Washington and Oregon meets the marine air of their western sides into a valley that receives less than 10 inches of rain each year, translating into wonderful, distinct wine flavors.
Choose your own wineries to visit or take one of the many tours offered. You can find some delicious wines in 4, 6 or 8-hour tours where every stop is planned for you and you are chauffeured from winery to winery. And it can also be a lot of fun to make your own adventure and just discover wineries because you drove by and wanted to stop, you carefully mapped a route or perhaps you just fell on one by chance. Discovering wineries is a dimension of touring and sightseeing that allows you to bring home a tasty memory to share your trip experience with others.
